Rustic Apple Crumble

A household favourite, and a great dessert to warm you up this winter.

Apple Crumble

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (600g)
  • 1 cup plain flour (150g)
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar (102g)
  • 1/2 cup butter (102g)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (6g)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples. Place them in a baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon and 50g of the caster sugar.
  4. In a bowl, mix the flour and the remaining sugar. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  5. Spread the crumble mixture over the apples.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  7. Serve warm with custard or ice cream.
